May 2026: Added sub-processor list and AI explanation disclosure. Added push-token and crash-diagnostics categories. Clarified advertising and tracking stance.
Plain‑language summary
We collect the bare minimum needed to run a study tool: your email, your responses to questions, and basic usage data. We use it to deliver the Service and improve it. Certain opt-in features send question text to a third-party AI provider (Anthropic) to generate explanations; no personal information is included. We do not sell your data. You can export or delete your account anytime.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account: name, email, hashed password.
- Billing: paid subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We do not collect or store your payment card details; billing is handled entirely by Apple or Google.
- Communications: messages you send us through the contact form or email.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data: questions answered, accuracy, time on task, streaks, device type, browser, approximate location (city level), and referrer.
- Push notification tokens: if you are a paid user and enable reminders, we store a device-level token used solely to deliver the notifications you have enabled. Tokens are removed on account deletion or when you disable notifications.
- Crash and error diagnostics: uncaught errors and stack traces captured by PostHog to help us fix bugs. Includes app version, OS version, and the screen where the error occurred. Does not include question content or personally-identifying user input.
- Cookies: we do not use cookies in the mobile app. For the marketing website, see our Cookie Policy.
AI-assisted explanations
When you tap "Help me remember" or "Explain this topic" on a reviewed question, FSOT Daily sends the question text and the correct answer to Anthropic, our AI provider, to generate an explanation. We do not send your name, email, account ID, or any answer you personally selected. Anthropic processes the request and returns the explanation, which we cache for re-use by all users. Per Anthropic's API terms, your data is not used to train their models.
If you do not want your interactions sent to a third-party AI service, you can simply not use these buttons. The rest of the app, including standard explanations written by our team, works without them.
2. How we use information
- To provide the Service (deliver daily sets, compute accuracy, sync progress).
- To support billing inquiries (payments are processed by Apple or Google, not by us).
- To send service emails (account, billing, security).
- To improve our content (revise weak questions, identify coverage gaps).
- To meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
3. Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers who help us operate (hosting, payments, email delivery, analytics) under written agreements that limit their use of the data.
- Legal authorities when required by valid legal process.
- A successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you.
Sub-processors we use

5. Your rights & account deletion
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise most of these rights from your account settings or by emailing support@pathtoforeignservice.com. We don't discriminate against users who exercise their rights.

6. Security
We use industry‑standard safeguards including TLS in transit, encryption at rest for sensitive fields, role‑based access controls, and routine security review. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password and notify us immediately if you suspect compromise.
